Christ's is one of only two Cambridge colleges with an outdoor pool, but students have the opportunity to swim indoors throughout the year.

The Malcolm Bowie Bathing Pool is located at the back of the Fellows Garden (which, despite its name, is open to students on weekdays) at Christ's, and can be accessed by CamCard. The pool is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, from May to September, and is used by students and staff throughout the summer months.

The pool is believed to have been constructed in the mid-17th century, and until being renovated in 2010 was fed by Hobson's Conduit, which runs through Christ's.

In Easter term (when exams are held), the pool hosts Senior Tutor's Tea every Thursday afternoon. Students are encouraged to take a break from revision, and enjoy drinks and snacks from the pavilion while lounging around the poolside.

"The real selling point of Christ's was the outdoor swimming pool - I spent a lot of my last term in it, and would 100% recommend it to clear away any stresses."

Pools in Cambridge

Every Friday evening, all Christ’s students are allowed to use a number of lanes at Parkside Pools, next to Kelsey Kerridge fitness centre (on the far side of Parker’s Piece, 10 minutes' walk from Christ's) for free. There is also a pool at the Abbey Leisure Complex on Whitehill Road, and a lido on Jesus Green which is open during the summer months.
