In a thrilling final round, Christ’s wins University Challenge for the first time ever beating Warwick University by 175 to 170.
Presenter Amol Rajan said:
“What an absolutely fantastic final!”
And he was right!

The team captained by Oscar Despard (Natural Sciences), includes Brendan Bethlehem (Linguistics and Egyptian), Anniko Firman (Classics) and Linus Luu (Mathematics).
In the nail-biting moments before the final gong, the contest was taken to the wire and the Christ’s team secured victory on the very last question.
Together the team, supported by reserves Ari Vladimir and Adam Sandhu, has triumphed through six rounds against formidable opponents.
They prepared by watching old episodes, devising a spreadsheet of 200 subjects and practising their buzzer reaction time and it all paid off!
Tonight’s Grand Final was watched by students, staff and Fellows along with the team who have had to keep the result secret for months.

Captain, Oscar Despard said:
"I was amazed by the turnout from the College to watch it last night! It was lovely to have such support; it was a great atmosphere."
Now in series 31, University Challenge - the longest-running TV Quiz - began in 1962. The trophy was presented by actor Sir Ian McKellen at the ADC Theatre in Cambridge.
