Thank you to all parents and guardians who are supporting a young person taking part in our John Milton English Taster Series Visit Day! We appreciate your help, including taxi services where provided!
The 4 April Visit Day at Christ's College is for prospective students only and we ask that any accompanying parents and guardians do not enter the College whilst the events are taking place so that the young people have the best opportunity to meet each other, experience the university and find their feet. Thank you for your understanding about this! On arrival, if you leave them at Christ's Great Gate on St Andrew's Street (CB2 3BU, What3Words goods.narrow.drops), that would be perfect.
Please make a plan for where you will meet your son/daughter outside the College after the Visit Day has finished and make sure that the meeting point is clear to them! "Outside Boots" is often a good choice as there's not much pavement space immediately outside the College. Boots is visible from the Great Gate (the main gate).
Otherwise, this page has some ideas of things to do whilst you are in Cambridge (it's a lovely city to explore if you've not been before, and if you want somewhere quiet to work, we can give you pointers on that too).
Things to do
- Visit Cambridge - you may find the Cambridge University map helpful.
- Visit one or more of the University Museums
- Have some quiet time in the Cambridge Central Library - close to Christ's and a good place for anyone with work to do! Further info for finding Cambridge Central Library. Alternatively Cambridge has a good number of coffee shops and cafes if you prefer.
- Depending on your interests, you could explore the City Trails (with downloadable maps).
- Go on a Cambridge Highlights tour or another guided tour (these have a charge)
- Visit other features of Cambridge (these have a charge) - the Round Church, Great St Mary's Tower, King's College Chapel, the Botanic Gardens.
- If you enjoy shopping, you'll be right in the centre of Cambridge and close to all three shopping centres (Lyon Yard, the Grand Arcade and the Grafton Centre), lots of street shops and Market Square.
