Three alumni have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Jackie Alway (m. 1984) was awarded an OBE for Services to Music, Dr Adrian Crellin (m. 1973) has been awarded a CBE for Services to Radiotherapy, and Mr Julian Clyde-Smith (m. 1969) an OBE for Services to Charity and the Legal Profession.
Jackie Alway holds an industry-wide remit as chair of the Music Publishers Association and as a member of the Board for UK Music, PRS for Music, the MCPS, the International Music Publishers Association, a Board Director of MCPS Ireland and a member of the Council of the Music Publishers Association of Ireland. She has been a leading campaigner for copyright and safe harbour reform and for the rights of creators and rights holders, and is currently Universal Music Publishing Group’s Exectuive Vice President for international legal and industry affairs.
Dr Crellin studied medicine at Christ’s before becoming a consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in radiotherapy. Currently he is NHS England National Clinical Lead on Proton Beam Therapy. He has contributed to new studies in pancreatic and oesophageal cancer, both priorities for Cancer Research UK.
After studying law at Christ’s Mr Clyde-Smith qualified as a barrister and became a Jersey advocate, later a Crown Advocate and a Royal Court Commissioner. He was also one of the founding members of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
