Alumni recognised in Birthday Honours

Congratulations to Vaughan Southgate (m. 1965), Martin Frost (m. 1982), Ganesh Suntharalingam (m. 1985), and Sarah Walker (m. 1990), who have all been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Vaughan Southgate has been awarded an OBE for services to the community in Bedfordshire.

Martin Frost is co-founder of CMR Surgical, and was CEO at the company until the end of 2019. He helped to bring the innovative Versius surgical robot to hospitals, driven by a vision of helping millions around the world benefit from minimal access surgery. We were delighted that he was a speaker at our inaugural lifesciences event last year. Martin has been appointed CBE for services to robotics.

Ganesh Suntharalingam is President of the Intensive Care Society and has been awarded an OBE for services to the NHS during Covid-19.

Sarah Walker is a Professor at both the University of Oxford and University College London. She is the Chief Investigator and Academic Lead for the National COVID-19 Infection Survey, a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the Office for National Statistics, investigating prevalence and incidence of current and past infection with SARS-CoV-2. Sarah has been awarded an OBE for services to Academia and the Covid-19 response.
