The College Library has just launched its online exhibition 'Here be Dragons! Mapping Lands near and far’, which can be found by clicking here. Based on the physical exhibition of the same name that ran from June 2019 to early 2020, it examines questions such as when accuracy in mapping really became indispensable (in fact, this issue probably came into real focus in the 19th century), and when “star” (constellation) maps came into being. Maps are full of potential: they lead us to think about faraway places, and fire the imagination. We hope that our exhibition succeeds in doing the same.
