Daniel is an evolutionary biologist and vertebrate palaeontologist interested in the evolutionary origins of birds and other tetrapod groups. Research in his lab focuses on using the fossil record to answer questions about how, where, and when modern vertebrate biodiversity arose. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Daniel studied Zoology as an undergraduate at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, and received his PhD in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University.
Daniel is a University Lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences at Cambridge, and is the Director of Studies for Earth Sciences at Christ's. He currently holds a UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowship, and is a Research Associate at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
