Dr Sophie Camilla Natalie Read
Sophie Read was born in Oxford, and was an undergraduate at Queens' College, Cambridge. After a couple of years working as a publisher, she returned to academia and is currently finishing a project on the rhetoric of religious language in seventeenth-century literature, with a particular focus on devotional poetry and the sermons of Lancelot Andrewes. Her teaching interests range from the Renaissance to (and occasionally past) the eighteenth century, and she also supervises on practical criticism and the Tragedy paper in Part II of the English Tripos. Other interests, in no particular order, are golden age detective fiction, some kinds of contemporary poetry, and most writing about food.
