Christ’s College has an opportunity for a qualified plumber/heating engineer to join the College’s maintenance department.

The post-holder will take responsibility for planning and executing all plumbing and associated work on the College site and at the College’s associated external properties in and around Cambridge.  For a conscientious professional with the appropriate skills and who enjoys a challenge, this role offers the scope to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the College’s unique buildings.

The maintenance team is a team of eight (including this post), led by the Maintenance Manager, and the work is varied over a broad range of historical buildings. As well as being responsible for all the plumbing and heating requirements, the role entails keeping up to date with the on-line fault reporting system, liaising with contract tradesmen, responding to urgent jobs including being available for emergency callouts on an agreed basis and supporting the overall work of the department. We would like to hear from you if you have an NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating and previous experience in domestic plumbing systems. Gas Safe CCN1 and CENWAT certification would be an advantage but not essential.

The benefits on offer are many and include 36 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays), a define contribution pension scheme with 6% (minimum) employer contribution, a health care cash plan funded by the College, a free meal when on duty, and the opportunity to work in a beautiful environment. Facilities on-site include a College gym, multi-faith prayer room, outdoor swimming pool and limited parking. For details about the benefits offered, please click here.
