Professor Guido Tabellini, the Intesa Sanpaolo Chair in Political Economics at Bocconi University, will give the James Meade Lecture 2026 on Thursday 12 February, 17:30-19:00 in the Yusuf Hamied Lecture Theatre.
Prof Tabellini is best known for his ground-breaking work in political economics, but his research also spans public choice, macroeconomics, and international economics.
He will lecture on ‘Mechanizms of Political Polarisation’ to consider the question of why there is so much political polarisation in many advanced democracies.
The James Meade Biennial Lecture was jointly established in 2016 by Christ’s College and the Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge.
The Lecture honours James Meade, a Noble Prize Laureate in Economics, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Cambridge and Senior Research Fellow at Christ’s College, who was a major contributor to developments in national income accounts and the theory and policy in international economics.
The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. All welcome. No need to book.
