Charles was not the only member of the Darwin family to have strong ties to Cambridge. His cousin, William Darwin Fox, and his eldest son William Erasmus both studied here at Christ's College. Three of Charles' other children, George Howard, Francis and Horace, were students at Trinity College.
Charles Darwin's presence is still strongly felt in Cambridge today; as well as Darwin College, many streets in the city are named in his honour (see, for example, ‘Cambridge Street Names’ by R. Gray and D. Stubbings). A ward at Brookfields Hospital is named after Frances Cornford, the poet and daughter of Charles’ third son Francis.
