We welcome applications from students taking the European Baccalaureate (EB). This is your dedicated page with information about applying to Christ's College with the EB.

If you attend a school that offers the European Baccalaureate Diploma, your studies for the Diploma programme take place in the final two years of secondary education (S6 ad S7).

The EB Diploma curriculum covers language, humanities, mathematical and scientific subjects and you will be taught in more than one language. Please see the detail on the Office of the Secretary-General of the European Schools website European Baccalaureate page, which sets out the compulsory subjects as well as the options and complementary subjects.

Where can I take the EB?

You can take the EB at one of the European Schools or one of the accredited European Schools.

Minimum requirements

We define the terms of each offer individually, but the minimum conditional European Baccalaureate offer at Christ's requires 85 per cent overall, with scores of 9 or more in the subjects most closely related to the course you want to study.

Please see our the relevant Christ's subject page for the course you are interested in, and look at the Subjects: what do you need drop-down information in particular, as well as the offers information.

In order to make a competitive application for a course where Further Mathematics at A level is listed as a requirement or an advantage, applicants taking the European Baccalaureate should be taking six hours of Mathematics, where available.

English language requirements

If you speak English as an additional language, you will be aware that a high level of English is needed to study at Cambridge. Alongside your academic ability and potential, we will look for evidence of your English language competence when selecting students for interview. Please read our page on English language requirements (including the lists in the interview selection section) in full, paying particular attention to the following two points that are relevant for many Christ's applicants taking the EB:

> the list of qualifications accepted at all Colleges as English language proof of competence to participate in an interview includes a score of 8 in EB English as L1, or a score of 9 in EB English as L2.

> Christ's College accepts predicted grades for school qualifications in the qualifications listed (see link above) as evidence that you are on track to achieve the English language scores needed. If, like many of our applicants, you have not yet finished school, there is no need to worry as long as you are doing well in English.

English Language requirements are one of the topics that we discuss in our regular webinar for international applicants, if helpful.

Additional tests you may need to take

When reading this page, note that in addition to the EB, in most cases we would normally expect to see:

STEP papers II and III if you are applying for Mathematics, See the STEP information on the Maths page. STEP is not needed if you are applying for a subject other than maths.

An Admissions Test, if this is required for your course at Cambridge. Please check the applying information on the relevant subject page and be careful as some written assessments require registration by a deadline in September.

In all cases it is essential to read the relevant Christ's subject page for details of what is needed for the course you are applying for.
