This page is part of the Christ's applicants from Scotland section.

Students in the Scottish system who are applying to Cambridge need three Advanced Highers and some courses have specific subject requirements. We are aware that this is not always easy and that you may be constrained by limited choices at your school. This page has information for students in Scotland who are struggling to take the three Advanced Highers needed.

If you can only take two Advanced Highers at your school

If you are only able to study two Advanced Highers, please write to us (admissions@christs.cam.ac.uk) as soon as you realise that you'd like to apply - we will have a look at your individual case. Please make sure that you tell us which subject you would like to apply for!

We are aware that sometimes Scottish students need to travel to a different school in order to take three Advanced Highers. When you apply, as well as the UCAS application form there is an additional questionnaire called My Cambridge Application. This has questions about your teaching and access to school subjects so please make sure that you set out your circumstances, as we will take this into account.

If your school offers a limited range of subjects

Sometimes students struggle to take subjects that are recommended or required for one of our courses because they are not offered at school. Again, our advice is to write to us (admissions@christs.cam.ac.uk) as soon as you realise that you'd like to apply - we will have a look at your individual case.

In the application process, when you are completing the additional form (My Cambridge Application). Please ensure that you mention limitations in the subjects you could take - there is a question on this so that we can take the information into account.
