In conjunction with artist Issam Kourbaj’s ongoing exhibitions at Kettle’s Yard and the Heong Gallery, please join Cambridge Film & Screen, Cambridge Palestine Culture Series, and the Christ’s Visual Arts Committee for a film screening and a conversation with Kourbaj.

We will be showing Wild Relatives (2018, 65 minutes), a documentary by the Palestinian artist-filmmaker Jumana Manna that examines biodiversity, climate change, and the Syrian revolution-turned-war through its exploration of seed preservation and an international agricultural research centre—with which Kourbaj also collaborates—that was forced to relocate from Syria to Lebanon.

Following the screening, Kourbaj will be joined by film scholar and Christ’s Fellow Kareem Estefan for a discussion on themes of loss and memory, seeds and renewal, and Palestinian and Syrian experiences of revolution and war.

A drinks reception will follow. All warmly welcome. This is a free event.
