Yvonne Sherratt’s specialist area is European Political Thought. She was a Research Fellow at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge before holding tenured posts at Edinburgh University, Bristol University and a College lectureship at New College, Oxford. She has a PhD and MPhil in Intellectual History and the History of Political Thought from King’s College, Cambridge, working with Anthony Pagden and Raymond Guess.
Supported by awards from The British Academy, Yvonne’s prize-winning books include Hitler’s Philosophers (Yale University Press 2013/14). This was translated into a dozen languages and reviewed globally in the major press. Her other books are Continental Philosophy of Social Science: Hermeneutics, Genealogy and Critical Theory (Cambridge University Press, 2007) and Adorno’s Positive Dialectic (Cambridge University Press, 2002/2007). Further research has been published in major academic journals such as The British Journal for the History of Philosophy.
Yvonne is represented by the Literary Agent, Sheil Land Associates. She has given talks for the Southbank Centre, Channel Four Television, the BBC World Service and Oxford University Public Programmes. She has written for The Wall Steet Journal, The Economist, the Times Literary Supplement, Literary Review, Times Higher Educational Supplement, BBC History Magazine and History Today. She was the winner of the BBC History book prize for Hitler’s Philosophers. She is currently working on a new book about female political thinkers.
