February 17th 2012

I found the introduction to Christ's College very interesting and enlightening, especially on the subject of personal statements. However, to me, the most productive part of the day was the college tour which gave me a very good overview of what the life of a student in Cambridge is all about.

It definitely made me more likely to apply to Cambridge and I loved Christ's. I really hope that I will be able to get into it in the future.

I really liked meeting with the students and being able to ask them questions. Also meeting with the Director of Studies helped clear some confusion in my mind. The admissions talk gave useful facts and helped to focus us all. I learnt about the importance of UMS points.

The student tour was extremely informative. Meeting the current students and the Director of Studies was especially interesting. My day at Christ’s College has made me more determined to proceed with my application.

Thank you very much for the amazing experience, it really has changed me and my ideas about what to do for my higher education.

I had been thinking about a few different colleges in Cambridge and even doubting my ability to apply to Cambridge itself, but being encouraged definitely made me more likely to apply. I will be applying to Cambridge, and almost certainly to Christ's College, as it had such a wonderful atmosphere.

The Open Day helped to clarify some details on the course structure which made me realise I would be better suited to another university. My experience nonetheless was very positive and would definitely have made me more likely to apply otherwise.

It was a wonderful experience and I really got a good impression from the outstanding atmosphere and rapport with the students and teachers. It appears a wonderful place to be :D

I found the session with the head of the department for my particular course very helpful. I found it easy to ask questions as it was a small group with a relxed atmosphere. It was also helpful to be told about the course in general, as well as extra-curricular reading I could be doing to improve my chances of being a successful applicant. Everyone was very friendly and I really had a great day.

I learnt most from the tour (thanks to your student Ben), as I could now confidently find my way around most parts of the college and enjoyed seeing the beautiful buildings.

The part of the Open Day I found most informative was the tour around the college from the existing students: I thought it was really nice to see Christ's from the students' point of view. It was also nice to talk to the Directors of Studies, and see what they were expecting of students.

I found the talk with the Director of Studies extremely helpful, especially as it was done informally and in small groups, meaning that I didn't feel inhibited when asking questions. Having a chat with current students about life at Christ's was also really good, as they provided a perspective which you don't really get when reading information on the website and the prospectus.

The Open Day made me more likely to apply to Christ's. I definitely felt a great sense of community at the college, and thought I would enjoy spending my undergraduate study years there.

I enjoyed the tour given by the current students and found the subject talks most informative.

I would like to say a final thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable and informative open day as it has provided me with invaluable information which cannot be gathered simply from reading prospectuses or online.

February 22nd 2011

The presentation that the Director of Admissions gave was very informative and clarified the application proceedings. I also found the sessions with the Fellow of the subject we intend to pursue beneficial as it gave a comprehensive clarification of Cambridge, Christ's, the English course and what makes an appropriate application.

I enjoyed the guided tour mostly as the students were very friendly and knew quite a lot about the campus (including some impressive dates as well as historical facts).

The experience means that I am definitely going to apply to Christ's College next year.

As a college prospectus was sent in advance and the day allowed for plenty of questions to be asked, I didn't feel that any information was missing.

I think the Open Day has made me realise more what I can do to increase my chances of getting in and made me think that, even if I don't get in, I won't ever regret learning more about the stuff I'm interested in.

The main talk was very useful - in particular how you dispelled the myths of Cambridge. My parents and I came with a few preconceived ideas (like everyone I guess), because of rumours we'd heard and what we'd read in the papers. But the whole interviewing process seems a lot less mysterious now - and a lot of the stories we'd heard do sound like nonsense.  We were also very impressed with how much time and effort that you put into your admissions process - it does seem incredibly fair.

My experience at the open day has made me want to apply to Cambridge and more likely to apply to Christ's as there was more of a community feel than I had expected at a medium sized college.

I was incredibly impressed with Christ's College and Cambridge as a whole and it has definitely made me consider applying.

I really enjoyed having a chance to talk to the Director of Studies in each of the subjects I am most interested in. They were clearly experts in their field and were extremely helpful in explaining the courses and answering my many questions!

A parent wrote "Thank you for an excellent day on Tuesday. We were made to feel very welcome and have certainly got lots to think about."

 June 30th 2010

It was inspiring to see students who were obviously satisfied with what they were doing and wanted to help others have the same opportunities as them.

The discussion with the Director of Studies and presentation at the start of the day were perfectly timed in relation to the rest of the day because I was more comfortable by the end of the day and so was prepared to ask questions in the meeting with the Director of Studies.

The open day was extremely useful and all my questions were answered.

I intend to apply to Christ's College for Natural Sciences, and found the talks with the supervisors very helpful.

I'm more likely to apply to Christ's, and Cambridge itself, than before the open day.

I stayed over-night in the college and I felt a bit worried and lonely. However I was delighted when I found the invitation to watch football with some students (student JRC people) pinned up on my wall. I felt welcomed and really enjoyed my conversations with them. It was a great start to my Christ's experience, showning me just how friendly everyone was.

For me, the best part of the Open Day was talking to the tutors about the subjects. I really liked the fact that it was a small and comfortable session, as I was able to learn a lot about the course, and also get an idea of what it would be like to study history at Christ's. The tour around the college by the students was also very useful; especially seeing the different types of accommodation, and rooms like the library, since now I know much more about living at Christ's, rather than just the academic side of life there.

The question and answer session with the Director of Studies for Medicine was most informative, as he could answer all the questions on what the course entails and admissions information. The tour with the students was probably the most enjoyable part, as I got to see the beautiful and peaceful gardens, and they gave a realistic view of what it would be like to study at Christ's.

After attending your Open Day I am now more certain that I will be applying to both Cambridge and Christ's, and I enjoyed the day very much.

The talk with the Director of Studies was very informative on interviews and studying at the college.

Meeting current History students was also great, as they gave a real sense of the strengths of the course and college life at Christ's.

The student helpers were so friendly and informative, I felt at ease the moment I arrived. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and it definitely presented itself as a place where I would like to go for three years.

March 16th 2010

I am decided and more confident now that I want to apply to Cambridge, and that I shouldn't be put off by different myths or rumours around. Also, that money shouldn't be a problem and that honestly I do have a chance.

It's made me more likely to apply because the college is beautiful and I'd already half moved in when I was looking around. Hearing how high the requirements are to get in didn't put me off, but made me more determined if anything!

Seeing the accommodation was enjoyable and informative. The talk about applying at the beginning was also very useful.

It was very useful to be able to speak to students who are studying my chosen subject.

I thought everyone was very friendly and welcoming, which was very important to somebody who has no family contact with the college/university.

The day has given me a feel for what life at Cambridge is like, and in particular what Maths at Cambridge is like.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Open Day it has given me a lot of food for thought!

The students who took us around were great they were able to answer all my questions.

I thought Christ's was beautiful and could easily imagine myself there.

I really enjoyed the day and it has made me want to apply to Christ's now that I know more about the college. Being able to ask questions has given me some confidence in my GCSE grades and talking to the students has inspired me to work my hardest and apply for a place at Cambridge

I particularly enjoyed the informal walk around the college and the discussions with the students to find out what life is really like as a student at Christ's.

March 17th 2009

I had the feeling that Cambridge students were very posh, extremely clever and specially gifted ... this is simply a stereotype which is not true at all ... they were normal students like me.

Before the Open Day, I had a misconception about Cambridge students being introvert, nerdy and generally reclusive! This idea has now been eradicated!

The lunch in Hall was a valuable opportunity to meet other students and academic staff and learn more about different aspects of college and university life.

I found it was really helpful being able to talk to current students at Christ's while we were being given the tour of the college.

Both the opportunities to talk to current students, and to the Directors of Study, were highly enjoyable and very informative.

The Open Day has definitely made me more likely to apply to Cambridge, since being able to talk to the Director of Studies and students made the course I am thinking of applying for appeal to me more. I enjoyed the Open Day very much.

Christ's was one of the colleges I was thinking of applying to, and the Open Day was a very good insight. The Open Day has reaffirmed my thoughts of applying here.

The most enjoyable part of the Open Day was how welcoming everyone at the college was.

I was already eager to apply to Cambridge, but the Open Day has certainly made me more likely to make Christ's the college I finally apply to.

As a prospective student, I was made to feel so welcome and I throughly enjoyed my day with you.

I just want to say thank you to all the staff and students who gave up their time for us ... it was a very enjoyable day!
