IABSE award for Dr Mauro Overend

The International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering  has awarded the IABSE Prize 2013 to Mauro Overend, UK, “for pushing the boundaries in the structural use of glass in façade design, and for related research”. 

Dr Overend has a leading, international reputation in the field of structural glass. After working as a structural and façade engineer on a number of notable buildings he returned to full-time teaching and research. He now coordinates the Glass and Façade Technology Research Group at Cambridge University undertaking fundamental, application-driven and interdisciplinary research using his knowledge as a designer of “cutting-edge” façades and other glass structures.

The IABSE Prize honours a Member early in his or her career for an outstanding achievement in the field of structural engineering, in Research, Design or Construction.
