Modern Beagle Voyage

Dutch TV company VPRO is making a 35-part documentary series about Charles Darwin and the Voyage of the Beagle for which they are re-sailing the voyage with a modern clipper.  Anthony is accompanying them as the 'ship's artist'.

They sailed from Plymouth on 1 September to Brazil via Tenerife, Cape Verde and Fenrando de Noronha.  Then down the East coast of South America, through the straits of Magellan, and up the West coast to Peru.  From there they sail to the Galapagos, Tahiti and then on to Sydney.  After sailing the Southern coast of Australia and up to Perth, they will then cross the Indian Ocean to Mauritius.  Finally they sail to South Africa and then head back to the UK.  The whole voyage is to take about 8 months.

Anthony, who sculpted our popular Young Darwin statue, has sent some photographs of the voyage so far.
