The interview, with THE columnist, Professor Tara Brabazon, focuses on Nazlin’s views on the library of the future and the role of the librarian. Nazlin is a chartered librarian with Masters degrees in Music and in Library Science. She has worked at the
BBC
/> Music Library and the Royal Academy of Music, as well as at university libraries (
Western Ontario
/>, Hertfordshire and, most recently, Middlesex). Nazlin has a strong interest in the teaching role of the academic librarian and was made a Teaching Fellow at

/>. She has a PGCHE and is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also very interested in the application of new technologies and has been involved recently in JISC funded research into library user behaviour. Nazlin’s vision of the library at Christ’s is of one that distinguishes itself by how it supports, reflects and enhances the sense of a scholarly community – the learning hub and place where the heartbeat of the College is most easily discernible. Dr Gavin Alexander, the Fellow Librarian, comments: ‘Nazlin’s appointment begins an exciting new phase in the Library’s history, as we look towards the possibility of a badly-needed new
building, but also as we reassess the role of the Library in the life of our scholarly community and especially in the learning experiences of our student users. New technologies are changing the way we think about library services and academic study. We will engage with these changes proactively, in order to deliver the best possible service to our students. Nazlin’s experience, expertise, and vision, will be crucial in enabling us to do this.’
