Microdroplets in Actions Symposium

Friday

Microdroplets are small homogeneous droplets, typically generated in microfluidic systems. Each droplet is potentially a unique reaction chamber in which a discrete chemical or biological transformation can be carried out. Microdroplets provide a conceptually new platform for carrying out experiments in the physical and biological sciences. Research in this area involves device fabrication, droplet physics, surfactant chemistry and ultrasensitive detection methods. The field has developed rapidly in recent years with applications in chemistry, biology and material science. There is strong interest in the area in Europe, the USA and Asia and a growing number of companies are seeking to adopt the technology.
