Lord Alton was the first Parliamentarian to visit North Korea, and as chairman of the British-DPRK All-Party Parliamentary Group has met with Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly. This October, Lord Alton lectured on the ethical use of science at the opening of the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, the country's first English speaking higher education institution.
