A maximum of seven items may be borrowed at any one time. Books and audio-visual materials are issued for two weeks and may be renewed up to three times if not reserved by other readers. Volumes in heavy demand are subject to a three-day, non-renewable loan period. These books are indicated by a 3-day loan label on the spine. Reference books (also indicated by a label on the spine) and journals may not be borrowed.
The library operates a self-issue system allowing books to be borrowed at any time. Instructions are displayed beside the borrowing terminals. In the event of computer failure, please complete a manual loan slip for each book and alert a member of staff. Books can also be reserved and renewed at the issue stations.
Books with a location marked ‘Annexe’ are borrowable, but students must request them from a member of library staff.
Fines are charged for the late return of books. A fine of 10p per book per day will be charged.
Books borrowed over each University vacation may be retained until the beginning of the next Full Term. Relevant dates are displayed in the Library.
