Awards for Postgraduate Students

1.    Christ’s College Travel & Research Fund

Applications from graduate members of the College for modest assistance with travel and other expenses directly connected with research projects or academic work may be made at any time to one of the two Tutors for Graduate Students, Professor Gay or Dr Norman.

2.    Christ’s College Graduate Student Trust Funds

The College can provide, from these three funds, limited grants for travel and other purposes :-

•    The Emily & Gordon Bottomley Travel Fund provides support for graduate students towards the cost of travel to conferences or travel which is in some way directly connected with their academic work.

•    The Monica Kornberg Memorial Fund was established in memory of the late Monica, Lady Kornberg (wife of a former Master of the College) to facilitate the research of graduate students. The Fund can provide modest grants for any research purpose for which sufficient funds are not available from other sources. No individual may receive more than one award from the Fund in any one academic year.

•    The Reuben Levy Travel Fund assists graduate members of the College with the costs of travel which need not be connected with their academic work.

There are four deadlines for applications every year:  15th November, 15th February, 15th May, 15th August

Applications must be made on the Application Form for Graduate Travel and Research Funds which is available in hard copy from the Tutorial Office in Y4, downloaded here or PDF copy can be emailed to you (contact tut-office@christs.cam.ac.uk). 

Please note a supporting statement from your Supervisor will be required as part of your application.  Further details are contained in the application form.

3.    Christ’s College Medical Elective Grants

The College may be able to contribute towards the cost of travel for Clinical Study on an approved medical elective course overseas.

Application for an award should be made in writing to Professor J.H. Gillard, Director of Studies in Clinical Medicine. The maximum amount that may normally be awarded to an individual is £400.
