2.1 Individual Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of all members of College to act responsibly and to follow all Health and Safety related instructions. Not to do so is a criminal offence under Health and Safety legislation. In particular, safety related equipment, such as fire fighting appliances, is not to be tampered with or misused.
In the event of an accident occurring or you becoming seriously ill, you must inform the Porters’ Lodge immediately. You should ask that your Tutor be notified. In cases of serious accident or emergency, dial 999 and then IMMEDIATELY notify the Porters' Lodge that a 999 call has been made. In all cases of accident or emergency of any sort, it is essential that the Senior Tutor be informed immediately, via the Tutorial and Admissions Office or the Porters' Lodge.
If you require first aid, there are a number of trained First Aiders in College including the majority of the College Porters. You should contact the Porters' Lodge in the first instance. The College Nurse is also able to give first aid treatment when she is in College.
A list of qualified First Aiders, and their contact numbers, is held by the Porters. The majority of Porters are qualified First Aiders.
If you have an accident on College premises, you should, at the earliest opportunity, report to the Porters' Lodge. If necessary, arrangements will be made for appropriate treatment elsewhere, either by the College Nurse or by transfer to hospital. After receiving any attention or treatment, you must complete an accident report form. You must give the place, date and time of the accident, the names of any witnesses and a full description of the event. Accident report forms are available in the Porters’ Lodge.
