Until September 2004 I was Professor of Mathematical Physics in the University and I chaired the University's School of the Physical Sciences. I was responsible for completing the setting up in Cambridge of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences. I was largely responsible for setting up the Millennium Mathematics Project and I have been chairman of the management committees of the Cambridge eScience Centre, the National Institute for Environmental eScience, the Cambridge Computational Biology Institute, and the Newton Institute.
