Dr Rob Simon Martin PhD

Junior Research Fellow

About

I studied at St Edmund Hall, Oxford (MChem Chemistry; Scholar 2001-2004) and Magdalene College, Cambridge (PhD Earth Sciences; Bye-Fellow 2006-2007) before coming to Christ's as a Junior Research Fellow in 2008. My research focuses on the emission, processing and deposition of volcanic gas and particles. This work involves sampling and measurement campaigns at active volcanoes (e.g., Mt Etna, Sicily and Masaya, Nicaragua), laboratory analyses, and the development of new computational and analogue models for volcanic emissions. The main aims of this research are to gain novel insights into volcanic processes and to investigate the atmospheric, environmental and human impacts of active volcanism.
