Ian was a member of Clare College for his undergraduate and postgraduate study before moving to Christ's in 2006. He currently supervises the Civil Law 1 paper in Part 1A of the Law Tripos and Land Law in Part 1B, and lectures on European Legal History for the Civil Law 2 paper in Part 1B. Ian's principal research interests are in early-modern legal history, especially of the common law.

Appointed to a Lectureship at University College London, September 2009.
