1. The College's decision to offer you employment took into account the personal information you provided to the College, on the basis that it was complete and correct. The College reserves the right to terminate any employment, or withdraw an offer of employment, in the event that any information knowingly provided by you turns out to be untrue or misleading
2. You joined the College on an initial probationary period as detailed in your letter of appointment. During this period your work performance and general suitability will be assessed and, if they are satisfactory, your employment will continue. However, if your performance of your work is not up to the required standard, or you are considered to be generally unsuitable, the College may either take remedial action or terminate your employment without recourse to the disciplinary procedure. At the end of your probationary period you will again be assessed and, if satisfactory, you will become a member of the College's regular staff. If you have not reached the required standard your probationary period may either be extended in order that remedial action can be taken or your employment terminated without recourse to the disciplinary procedure. In the event of you failing to improve during the extended probationary period, your employment will be terminated without recourse to the disciplinary procedure.
3. You have been provided with a job description of the post to which you have been appointed, but amendments may, from time to time, be made to your job description in relation to the College's changing needs and your own ability.
4. At the commencement of your employment you will receive induction training and training specific to your job. As your employment progresses your skills may be extended to encompass new job activities within the College. The College actively supports a training programme for staff development and skills and may nominate members of staff to attend training courses where it is necessary for you to do so. You must attend such courses if requested to do so. If you wish to undertake a specific course of training you should discuss your particular needs with your Head of Department.
5. Staff appraisals are carried out from time to time by Heads of Department. They may be oral or written. It is a condition of your employment that you must fully participate in any appraisal system that the College may choose to operate. The objective of the appraisal is to help you and the College to achieve their mutual objectives. This will be achieved by reviewing your performance during the previous year, agreeing on future work objectives and identifying any training needs that you may have that will assist your future development.
6. All members of staff are expected to display a high standard of teamwork. It is an express condition of employment that you are prepared, whenever necessary, to transfer to alternative departments or duties within the College and/or undertake other hours of work as may reasonably be required to ensure that the College's needs are met. During holiday periods, for example, it may be necessary for you to take over some duties normally performed by colleagues. This flexibility is essential to ensure the most efficient use of available resources to meet the College's needs.
7. You will not be expected to undertake duties or be required to perform services that you cannot reasonably perform or which are inconsistent with the position you hold.
8. Although your usual place of employment will be at the main premises of the College, it is a condition of your employment that you are prepared, whenever applicable, to work at any other premises owned or used by the College. This mobility is essential to the smooth running of the College.
