Christ’s College, Cambridge, is offering a one year Research Scholarship in History, designed to support scholars at an early stage of their research careers.
The Scholarship is open to graduates of any university. They must have received their first degree by October 2013, and not have graduated earlier than May 2012. The Scholarship may be used to support a year of pre-Ph.D. independent study to develop or acquire language skills or to master a related discipline. The Fund Managers will give priority to candidates of this character. However, the Scholarship is also available to provide partial support to candidates for the M.Phil. Degrees in the Faculty of History at Cambridge.
Holders of the Scholarship must become members of Christ’s College if not already.
Application forms may be obtained from the Fellows’ Secretary, Christ’s College, Cambridge CB2 3BU (agb43@cam.ac.uk) or can be downloaded HERE.
Completed application forms should be returned, in hard copy or electronically, to the same address accompanied by a short statement of intended study, by 1 July 2013.
Applicants should ask their referees to write directly (in hard copy or electronically) to the Fellows’ Secretary (agb43@cam.ac.uk) by the same date.
The successful candidate may eventually also need to apply for admission as “Student not Registered for any Degree” to the Board of Graduate Studies. Further advice on applying to the Board of Graduate Studies will be provided to the successful candidate.
The Bishop Scholarship is worth £10,000. It also pays up to £2,000 as a supplementary allowance for maintenance, research, or fees.
