Sample track: Of a rose is all my song - Leighton

Website editor's notes: "Kenneth Leighton's carols are tragically underperformed masterpieces. This consideration, along with Ruth Marriott's spine-tingling soloing, induced me to make the track 'Of a Rose' available on the website despite its 6-minute duration making it far too long for a sample track. Enjoy!"

"A beautifully turned collection from the mixed choir of Christ's College prefaces sacred music by Bruckner and Liszt with the Missa Brevis by Zoltan Kodály.
At times intriguingly French in idiom, this exquisite Kodály setting is given a clear, beguiling performance, well paced and contrasted, and with balance and ensemble always well judged. The recorded sound is a sheer delight.
This is a genuinely involving sacred disc, heart-rendingly sung by a group of unquestioned talent."
Church Times 30/10/98

"The disc demonstrates with considerable skill the ability of these composers to write music of great emotional depths and harmonic complexity ... interpretations are suitably sensitive, and the choral sound is rich and well balanced." Chuch Music Quarterly

"This somewhat sombre collection features fine choral singing and some rarely-heard masterpieces." Early Music Review
