Works on literature of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Published work includes a book on the literary response to Philip Sidney and an edition of Renaissance literary criticism. Other research interests include poetry and music, rhetoric, the history of versification, the history of literary criticism, and textual studies. Online projects include English Handwriting: An Online Course.
