I studied at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge and Harvard University (where I was a Kennedy Scholar from 2000-2001) before coming to Christ's as a Research Fellow in 2005. My research interests are in sixteenth and seventeenth century intellectual history, the history of political thought and the history of science. I am particularly interested in the history of the concepts of time and space, in the early modern Aristotelian commentary and textbook tradition and its relationship to the 'new philosophy' of Hobbes and Descartes, and more generally in the connections between natural and political philosophy. I am currently writing a book on 'Time and the soul in the seventeenth century' and preparing several articles on late Aristotelian philosophy for publication.
