A short list of achievements at national level which happen to have come to our attention
in 2009, Adetomiwa Edun (matric 2002, Classics, Dr Bayly) played the part of Romeo in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet at The Globe Theatre in London .
Charlene Bourliout (matric 2006, Law, Dr Higgins) was a member of the team which won the final of the French Debating Tournament held in the French National Assembly, on Monday 23rd of March. The President of the French National Assembly, Mr. Bernard Accoyer, granted his 'haut patronage' and the motion of the debate was "This House believes that there is no crisis." (We do not know on which side of the question Charlene spoke!).
Ralph Barton (matric 2008, Natural Sciences, Dr Williamson) and partner George Illingworth won the award for the most creative use of electronices at the national exhibition stage of Young Engineer for Britain , March 9th. Their entry, CommunicAid, is a novel was to help disabled people to communicate and is much simpler and cheaper than anything currently on the market. See here for the original College article and here for a brief description by the Young Engineers organisation.
