Solemn Vespers and Leavers' Service for Trinity Sunday in Christ's College ChapelOn Trinity Sunday (7 June 2009), the chapel choir sang the Vesperae solennes de confessore K339 by W A Mozart in the context of a liturgical celebration of Solemn Vespers, to a packed chapel and a full congregation. The guest preacher was Professor Judith Lieu, the Lady Margaret's Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge. Her visit came in the 500th anniversary month of the death of the foundress both of the College and the Professorship - Lady Margaret Beaufort.
The chaplain of the College, the Revd Christopher Woods presided at the liturgy which also included prayers and a blessing for members of the College who are moving on to pastures new after the end of term. The Chapel Choir and 'Christ's Strings' was directed by Professor David Rowland, the Director of Music
The service was followed by a glass of prosecco in the ante chapel - which like the orders of service, ran out very quickly!
