Although full term has ended for the University of Cambridge, the activity and hard work of Christ's College Chapel Choir has not ended. Like many Cambridge College choirs, this time of the year is used for recordings and for concerts elsewhere. For Christ's Chapel Choir it is no different.
As well as singing at two London venues this week, Apseley House and the National Portrait Gallery, the Choir is recording a CD of the music of Sir Philip Ledger, the former Director of Music at King's College in Cambridge. Sir Philip is present for and directing much of the recording, which is taking place in Jesus College Chapel. The album will include 'Requiem: A Thanksgiving for Life' as well as Ledger's anthems and carol arrangements.
The Director of Music at Christ's, Professor David Rowland and the Organ Scholar, Roxanne Summerfield, are the organists for the recording, which is being produced by the Regent Records label.
