Members of the club returned safely last night from a successful week rowing on Lac d'Aiguebelette in the Savoie region of France. 36 rowers, 4 coxes and 5 coaches spent 6 days training on the lake which has just won its bid to host the World Rowing Championships in 2015.

Blessed with good weather and clear water rowers were able to spend 2-3 outings on the lake each day and the week was finished with a series of 1km relay races between the four VIIIs.

The camp was the perfect opportunity to introduce ex-novice rowers to a more intensive training programme and more complex technique exercises as well as allowing them to row with more experienced rowers in mixed outings. Streamed ability outings meant potential first boats could train together with the opportunity of rowing continuously on the longer stretches of water available on the lake.

A special thanks to Nick Acock, our boatman and coach; Stef Jacquot, Kim Rutter, Chloe Hole and Duncan Bull for their coaching throughout the week; our coach drivers John and Yvonne; and all the donators towards our sponsored erg held in December. We are thrilled with level of support so far and our JustGiving page will remain open until Friday 10 January: http://www.justgiving.com/ccbc-2011
