Sponsored Erg Live Updates
Today, Saturday 3rd December, Christ's College Boat Club are setting out to complete over 1000,0000 (1 million) metres on indoor rowing machines with the aim to complete the distance before the boat club dinner this evening! Starting at 6am, all eight rowing machines will need to be manned all day in order to complete the challenge.
The purpose for this endeavour is to raise money towards the club Lent term training camp in France this coming January. We have set up a justgiving page which can be found at: http://www.justgiving.com/ccbc-2011. If you would rather send a cheque, then please make it payable to 'Christ's College' and send it to:

More information on the sponsored erg and the training camp can be found here.
Posts will be made here throughout the day with updates on our progress. Signed up to help today are boat club alumni, our coaches, coxes and of course current rowers who will all be working together to help clock up the metres.
Thank you for your support.

Comments
Dijon
We've made it onto the third series of Gavin & Stacey and up to a total of 850km so far - the distance between Cambridge and Dijon.
As it looks like we'll reach our target well before 6pm the plan is to carry on until then and see how far we can go!
Paris
5 and a half hours, 3 DVDs & 500km (517.62 to be precise!) later we've reached Paris and are officially over half way to reaching our target of 1 million meters. We've had a great turnout so far with both students and alumni taking part.
Tom Millington has taken the lead having erged 47.4km since we started.
Many thanks to all those donating on our GiftAid site (http://www.justgiving.com/ccbc-2011) and by cheque.
In France
We have now passed into France - passing Calais. The current total sits at 337km. Some long stints being put in on the ergs already; Thomas Chetwin having done 2.5hrs now and covered 34682m!
Dover!
We've been going for nearly 3 hours now and have reached our second milestone - Dover, 200km from Cambridge. A special mention to the top erger so far - Tom Millington, who has contributed an impressive 33.75km.
Past London
On our journey we have certain milestones to pass. It is approximately 60km from Cambridge to London and we have now passed that marker, in fact we have covered 100km so far. Next one is Dover at 150km. Special mention goes to David Walden who covered 7044m in his 30 minutes. His fellow crew mates (Tom Swallow and Robin Kerr) have now arrived and are striving to beat this high bench mark!
And we're off...
At 6am this morning, eight of our current rowers started us off towards our target. We'll continue to post updates here throughout the day.
