Training camp on Lac d'Aiguebelette

Members of the club returned safely last night from a successful week rowing on Lac d'Aiguebelette in the Savoie region of France. 36 rowers, 4 coxes and 5 coaches spent 6 days training on the lake which has just won its bid to host the World Rowing Championships in 2015.

Blessed with good weather and clear water rowers were able to spend 2-3 outings on the lake each day and the week was finished with a series of 1km relay races between the four VIIIs.

Sponsored Erg Live Updates

Today, Saturday 3rd December, Christ's College Boat Club are setting out to complete over 1000,0000 (1 million) metres on indoor rowing machines with the aim to complete the distance before the boat club dinner this evening! Starting at 6am, all eight rowing machines will need to be manned all day in order to complete the challenge.

Sponsored Erg in aid of January Training Camp

After the success of last year's Lent Term foreign training camp, CCBC are going to repeat the camp this coming January. The details of the camp are much the same as last year with the club travelling by coach to Lake Aiguebelette near Lyon in France. Last year we found that the ability to have the club away from Cambridge, with uninterrupted rowing water not only allowed both ex-novices and seniors to make massive strides in their rowing technique, but also created strong bonds between club members.

Sponsored Scull Cambridge - St Ives - Report

Day 2, 37 miles in. 10:10 a.m. Easy oars at Ferry Boat Inn. The loyal bank supporters, Sarah Kerr and Mary Swallow, have driven round from Hemingford to meet us. From the Camrowers' Leisure Quad we chat with an ex-boatie who is now retired and travels by Narrow Boat. He once rowed an Eight from Bedford to Denver Sluice, but “doesn’t do that sort of mad thing anymore”.
