Boathouse Redevelopment – Result of Further Ground Studies
5th May 2012Boathouse Redevelopment Home >> News
The preliminary results of the drillings reported on 27th March have been received. They bored down to 15m (much further than the 9m stated earlier) and the Gault Clay which they met at 4m continued even deeper, which is reassuring. Our structural engineering consultants are now able to design the required foundation and floor system with confidence and will be seeking advice from a piling specialist.

Swallow sculls the postponed 2011 Boston Marathon
16th April 2012Boathouse Redevelopment Home >> News
On Sunday 1st April 2012 I raced a single scull over 31 miles in the UK Boston Rowing Marathon race, in aid of Christ's College Boat House Restoration Fund. This event was held over from September last year when it was postponed due to excessive weed growth in the slackly-flowing River Witham. Between Lincoln and Boston there is only one lock, Bardney, which has to be portaged, at the double! The previous year's event had been marred by the death from Weil's Disease of the Olympic Rower, Andy Holmes.
