Medical Alumni Association Meeting - 10 April

The Medical Alumni of the College held a highly successful meeting in the Yusuf Hamied Theatre on the afternoon of the Saturday 10 April.

Over 70 alumni and the guests attended. Professor Paul Moss (m. 1980, pictured) presented an inspiring overview on "Fifty Years of Progress moving towards the Control of Cancer". Three young alumni gave exciting short presentations on their neurological research, Dr Ali Alim-Marvasti (m. 2003) on fMRI, Dr Ed Wild (m. 1996) on Huntington's disease and Dr Abteen Mostofi (m. 2002) on cerebellar conditioning. The meeting ended with a lively debate on the proposition "The BMA is not working effectively for patients" proposed by Dr David Thomas (m. 1997) opposed by Mr Ali Amini (m. 2003). Later, after the traditional dinner in hall, Professor Sir Keith Peters proposed a toast to the Association and Mr Amini led the vote of thanks.

The next meeting of the Association is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday 17 September 2011. Alumni are requested to note the date in their diaries and to communicate ideas and names for lectures, debates or other presentations to Dr Navaratnam (email address vn10001@cam.ac.uk )
