Leo read English at Christ's and attended the life drawing classes under Issam. His book is illustrated throughout, which Leo says 'would simply not have been possible without [Issam's] tutelage'.

He continues:

'I owe a great deal to the college, and my acknowledgements in the book include Gavin Alexander, Freya Johnston and of course Issam'.
