Congratulations to Christ's alumnus Professor Michael Edwards OBE (m.1957), who is is the first person born in Britain to be admitted to the prestigious 'Academie Francaise'.

Professor Edwards is a poet and Professor at the College de France.

The Academie aims to  establish rules to preserve the purity of the French language while making it comprehensible to all.

Professor Edwards studied Modern and Medieval Languages while at Christ's College.
