We are delighted to invite you to join Christ’s alumnus Mr Peter Oborne (matric 1975), chief political commentator for The Daily Telegraph, at a dinner during which he will speak in defence of the coalition government, arguing it could be considered to be one of the most successful governments since the Second World War.
Peter Oborne is also a reporter for Channel 4’s Dispatches and Unreported World and has written a number of books and pamphlets which try to identify the power structures which lurk behind political discourse. In 2009 his Keith Joseph Memorial Lecture identified two rules of political reporting: the nastier a politician appears, the nicer he or she tends to be, and that those who wish to commentate on politics should look beyond the words of politicians and observe what they actually do. His latest book will be published in May: “A Desperate Delusion: Why the West is Wrong about Nuclear Iran”.
This event follows on from the great success of our first Distinguished Speakers Dinner Series event, and is part of a new initiative to bring alumni together in a convivial atmosphere to hear after-dinner talks from distinguished alumni and friends of the College. The event takes place on Tuesday 11 June 2013 at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London, beginning with a drinks reception at 7.00pm followed by dinner at 7:45pm.
Tickets are priced at £95 per person to cover costs and you are welcome to bring a guest. To book your place(s), please contact Adam Kent, Development Assistant on ak725@cam.ac.uk or download the reply form below and return it to the Development Office.
