To follow the success of the Launch in 2010, the Choir Association has organised a repeat event to take place on 3rd November 2012. The Association celebrates the vital role that the Chapel has played in the life of the College over the last 500 years, and the valuable contribution the Chapel Choir and its members have made in more recent years, particularly since the introduction of women’s voices in the late 1970s.
This year’s event will follow roughly the same format to the launch. Past and present members of the Choir are warmly invited to come and sing Festal Evensong together in the College Chapel, under the direction of Professor David Rowland. This will be followed by a special Association dinner in Hall.
In welcoming old members of the Choir to come and enjoy music-making in Christ’s once again, we hope to fill the Chapel with singers, as a momentous and joyful celebration of the musical life of the Chapel. Professor David Rowland has devised a fantastic selection of music to make the most of the large forces (including Dyson in D and an extract from Parry’s Songs of Farewell) to recreate the wonderful sound we achieved at the launch.
Evensong will be at 6.00pm, and dinner will be preceded by drinks in the Fellows Parlour at 7pm. To cover expenses, the cost of a four-course dinner, including pre-dinner drinks and wine during the meal, will be £42 per person. There will be a rehearsal for everyone in the Chapel at 4.15pm for 4.30pm. It is vital that you attend this. The dress code for both evensong and dinner is black tie.
If you would like to book a place at this event please RSVP to Chloe Applin in the Christ’s College Development Office (cja53@cam.ac.uk) or by post to the Development Office at the address below by noon on Monday 29th October.
