Christ's College Medical Alumni Association

The CCMAA is open to any Christ's member who studied medicine or went on to work in a medical career. The Association aims to bring together members with a common interest in medicine and Christ's at regular intervals, in Cambridge and or/elsewhere, to exchange ideas, to network and last but by no means least, to socialise. Events usually feature discussions, lectures and a dinner.

All alumni who are recorded as having studied medical sciences, natural sciences or affiliated subjects are invited to CCMAA events. Alumni who have gone into medical careers are also very welcome. An behalf of the CCMAA, Dr Tom Turmezei is running a profiling project of medical alumni to create a database of information on areas of expertise, interest, research etc. If you would like to take part, you can contact Tom on tom@diagnosticradiology.eu

There were a range of very interesting talks at the most recent CCMAA event on Saturday 6 April 2013. These included 

a talk by Professor Martin Johnson (Fellow and Professor of Reproductive Biology, University of Cambridge) on ‘A history of Assisted Reproduction from its conception via its birth, growth and adolescence, to its maturity.’

Following this was a talk by Dr David Thomas (Fellow and Clinical Lecturer, University of Cambridge) on ‘A novel gene crucial for haematopoiesis and immunity to infection.’

After tea, attendees reconvened for a talk byProfessor John Rees (m. 1968, Professor of Medical Education, KCL) on‘Why do doctors need to know about global health?’

The final talk of the day was by Mr Dylan Mac Lochlainn (m. 2009, Clinical Student at UCL) on his elective venture in Spain, funded by the CCMAA Fund.
