There are a lot of myths about university, and Cambridge certainly has its own fair share. Some students might be discouraged from applying by these myths, as well as by other, more real concerns for matters like finance, moving away from home, and socialising. The best advice is to get in touch with us and see what living and working here is really like.
Christ’s College is committed to encouraging applicants from non-traditional backgrounds. We are also committed to providing resources and information to schools which do not have a history of sending students to Cambridge and would like to do so in the future.
As part of the Cambridge University Area Links Scheme, Christ’s College carries out access events within the following LEAs:
The college also works with Service Children’s Education establishments.
The Schools Liaison Officer offers several options for schools and groups interested in exploring the prospects and reality of higher education in general, and Cambridge in particular.
Visiting Cambridge
For students to get a more interactive experience of University life, it often helps to visit a university and have a look around for themselves. Christ’s College is able to accommodate schools groups of up to 30 pupils from Years 10 to 13. Visits can be full day, half day, a couple of hours, or just a tour of the College. Apart from transport to and from Cambridge, visits are entirely free of charge, including morning refreshments and lunch on full day visits.
Day visit timetables are extremely flexible; please get in touch with the Schools Liaison Officer to organise a programme. Please note that visits to Cambridge are in very high demand so please book early.
Visits to your School
The Schools Liaison Officer can visit schools in any part of the country at your request to run sessions for groups of pupils from Year 10 upwards. The details of any visit can be tailored to the needs of your school. Of course, if you've already got an event organised - perhaps a Careers evening, a HE information event, or an Oxbridge conference - then we'd be happy to come and take part.
